Description

Ctrl V is a franchise system for multi-booth VR arcades. Founded in 2016 and based in Canada, the company licenses its operating model and custom management software to franchisees.

The business model centers on room-scale VR booths — typically 16 per location — where customers book time to play standalone VR games. Each booth runs independently. The company provides the Ctrl Suite software, which handles booking, payment processing, and content management across the booths.

Ctrl V’s target customers are families, groups, and event bookings: birthday parties, corporate team-building sessions, and social outings. The game library skews toward accessible, pick-up-and-play titles that don’t require VR experience. Most games use simple one- or two-button controls.

The franchise package includes the operating software, site planning support, and access to Ctrl V’s negotiated content licenses. Franchisees handle leasehold improvements, equipment procurement, and staffing. Initial investment is approximately $300,000 USD plus build-out costs. The franchise fee is $45,000. Ongoing fees are a 7% royalty on revenue and a 1.5% marketing contribution.

Ctrl V had close to 20 locations before the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2023, the network had contracted to approximately six active franchises.

This is a turnkey franchise model for operators who want a room-scale VR arcade with centralized software and brand support. It suits markets where multi-booth arcades can fill a family entertainment or group-activity niche.

Review from Bob Cooney's 2022/2023 VR Arcade Game Buyer's Guide:

Ctrl V

They began in 2016 and are based in Canada. I believe they had close to 20 locations pre-pandemic. Now it looks like they’re down to about six. Their operating model is based on 16 room- scale booths. They offer custom operating software they call the CTRL Suite to make the business labor efficient. It costs around $300K to open a Ctrl V franchise, plus leasehold improvements. There’s a $45K franchise fee, a 7% ongoing royalty, and a 1.5% marketing contribution.
