EVA (Esports Virtual Arena) is a warehouse-scale VR esports platform built around twin 5,000-square-foot arenas. Up to 20 players compete simultaneously across two linked play spaces — 10 players per arena — in team-based competitive matches. The system supports both esports-focused competition and co-op gameplay for casual visitors.

EVA debuted at Paris Games Week 2019. The platform is designed for operators running a hybrid venue model: VR esports arena plus food and beverage service. The business operates on a membership model that generates recurring revenue alongside per-session play and concessions.

The play space requirement is substantial. Each EVA location runs two 5,000-square-foot arenas side by side — 10,000 square feet of VR play space before accounting for lobby, F&B areas, and back-of-house. Players wear VR headsets and move freely within their arena. The two arenas are networked so teams in separate physical spaces compete in the same virtual match.

EVA (Esports Virtual Arena)

EVA has the most unique model of all the VR franchises I have seen. Twin 5000 square foot arenas, with 10 players in each, squaring off in teams for epic warehouse-scale esports battles. They have co-op games for casual players, but esports is where they shine. With a significant food and beverage component, it’s a more challenging business operation. You’re running a VR arcade, a restaurant, and a bar. It’s not for the faint-hearted. You’ll need to bring or hire deep F&B experience, as I don’t think EVA has perfected that part of their business yet.

I’m a big believer in the possibility of location-based esports. And I’m deeply skeptical of most of the business models I have seen to date. The combination of their membership model creating recurring revenue, esports that create community, and quality F&B suggests they have found a unique model that could work.
