Description

Hologram Room is a fully enclosed holographic display room manufactured by Axiom Holographics. The structure is free-standing and portable, fitted with projectors and tracking equipment that place objects inside the room so they appear to float. Viewers wear 3D glasses rather than headsets, which leaves them able to see the room and make eye contact with the people around them.

The room measures 5 metres by 2.9 metres with a depth of 4.5 metres. Projections appear within a 2 metre by 5 metre trapezium. The system runs on a standard PC and is supplied as a turnkey installation with hardware, software, installation and training by Axiom Holographics technicians.

The room is used for two distinct purposes. For business and engineering work it displays large-scale plans and life-size CAD models such as buildings, vehicles and aircraft, with one lead user inspecting the model while others share the same 3D view. It supports Unity and Unreal Engine for custom content creation, and works with Skyline TerraExplorer and Euclideon udStream. Axiom Holographics also offers a content creation service.

For entertainment use, a full session runs up to 30 minutes with a maximum of five players, containing up to 10 mini-experiences taken in turn, with one player per experience. An Arcade Room configuration takes up to four users at a time playing games in holographic 3D using an oversized joypad. A camera mode runs between mini-sessions and produces a downloadable photo or video, which is otherwise not possible with the projections.
