Description

Sailor’s Quest is a motion-based VR shooter from UNIS built around a two-seat cabinet with HP Reverb 2 headsets. It’s a pirate game—cannon battles, treasure hunting, enemy ships. The cabinet includes a motion platform, wind effects, and surround sound. It runs attendant-free, which means players can start and finish a session without staff intervention.

The game is designed for arcades and family entertainment centers that want a compact VR shooter with physical motion. The cabinet footprint is 48.5 square feet. Two players can run through a session together, or it operates as a single-player experience.

Bob Cooney’s take from the 2022/2023 Buyer’s Guide: the graphics are solid, the motion is smooth, and wind effects kick in during certain moments to heighten immersion. UNIS has worked to harden the HP Reverb 2 headset for commercial use—the most recent version showed improved durability. Curb appeal is strong.

The cabinet includes three display screens for spectators, which helps with queue engagement. The motion platform responds to in-game events—cannon fire, waves, direction changes. Vibration speakers are built into the seats. The whole package is designed to deliver a physical experience that reads as more than just a headset game.

This is a turnkey unit. Operators buy the cabinet, plug it in, and it runs. No need for external tracking hardware or custom installation. The HP Reverb 2 headsets are tethered to the cabinet, which limits player movement but keeps the experience reliable and reduces breakage risk.

Sailor’s Quest works for venues that want a recognizable pirate-shooter experience without the complexity of free-roam VR. The attendant-free operation makes it a good fit for mixed-use venues where staff can’t babysit every attraction. The motion platform and environmental effects give it differentiation over flat-screen arcade games.

Review from Bob Cooney's 2022/2023 VR Arcade Game Buyer's Guide:

Sailor's Quest

Sailor’s Quest VR is an inexpensive 2-player motion-based VR shooter. The graphics are great, the action is epic, and the motion is smooth. Wind effects even kick in during certain game moments to heighten the immersion. The game has great curb appeal too. UNIS has attempted to harden the HP Reverb 2 headset, and the most recent version looked substantially more durable.
