A 45-minute cooperative VR escape experience where groups of up to six work as Paris firefighters to save the Crown of Thorns during the 2019 Notre-Dame fire. PCVR, 3×3–6x6m spaces. A portion of proceeds supports Notre-Dame’s reconstruction.
Save Notre-Dame On Fire is a 45-minute VR escape experience from Ubisoft that puts visitors in the boots of the Paris fire brigade during the April 15, 2019 fire. The experience is based on Jean-Jacques Annaud’s film Notre-Dame On Fire and runs on PCVR hardware across Quest, PICO 4, and VIVE Focus headsets.
Groups of up to six work together to save the Crown of Thorns — the relic believed to have been worn by Jesus during the crucifixion — before the cathedral collapses. The mission starts in the burning nave after the spire has fallen. Visitors locate the safe containing the relic, then climb the North tower to the belfry for a final task while managing smoke, debris, and time pressure.
The experience runs in room-scale spaces from 3×3 meters up to 6×6 meters. It’s structured as a cooperative escape room with puzzle and adventure elements. Communication and coordination matter — visitors have to work as a team under pressure.
A portion of proceeds goes to Notre-Dame’s reconstruction fund. The experience was developed in collaboration with the Paris fire brigade and the film’s production team to keep the scenario grounded in the actual rescue operation.
Save Notre-Dame On Fire suits cultural institutions, museums, science centers, and immersive venues looking for narrative-driven content that works for adult groups and families. It’s not an arcade shooter. It’s a story about preservation, teamwork, and one of the hardest decisions firefighters had to make that night.
