Avventura is a Singapore studio that produces extended reality content and experiences, working across virtual, augmented and mixed reality. The company was conceived in late 2018 and takes its name from the Italian word for adventure. It incorporated as Avventura Pte Ltd and operates from Ubi Techpark in Singapore, with Christopher Chew as founder and managing director. The studio originally planned physical location-based experiences and moved to virtual reality production in 2020, working with Singapore dance companies as untethered headsets became more affordable.

Its location-based work includes Sang Kancil and the Enchanted Forest, a virtual reality experience created with Maya Dance Theatre that reimagines a Southeast Asian mousedeer fable. Visitors move through a forest environment and help the mousedeer find her way home. The experience ran as public activations across nine weekends between June and August 2026 at Enabling Village in Singapore, with National Library Board Singapore as venue sponsor.

Through the DanceXR Project, supported by the National Arts Council Singapore, Avventura runs pilot projects with Singapore performing arts companies including Maya Dance Theatre, Chowk Productions, Apsaras Dance Company, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, Bhaskar’s Arts Academy, The Arts Fission Company, Sri Warisan, Shantha Ratii Initiatives, Sakthi Fine Arts and P7:1SMA. The resulting works are produced in 180-degree VR, 360-degree VR and spatial VR, and include Over the Rainbow, SOAR, Swayambhu, Moving Stillness, The Susurration of the Tree and A Forest Love Letter. They are shown at seminars, roadshows and festivals, and distributed on VR streaming platforms. The studio also works to commission. Its performance capture service records body, finger and facial movement and maps it to animated avatars placed in virtual environments, as used on Over the Rainbow with dance artist Gigi Gianti and on Lady Peach Flower Crosses The River with Teochew opera performer Tan Wei Tian. Other services include 3D VR production, 3D design and animation, XR workshops, and synchronised playback of VR content across multiple headsets for group screenings at corporate and public events.

For venues and public spaces, Avventura supplies two systems developed with partner companies. It supplies VR kiosks with automated security and headset charging, designed to run with minimal staff attendance, in partnership with TitanskinVR in the Netherlands. It also supplies stereoscopic 4K viewers for outdoor and heritage sites, in partnership with Interactive Imagination in the United Kingdom.
