Description

Adventure Portal is a free-roam virtual reality system built by Chaos Inc for schools, science centres, museums and festival installations. Groups move untethered through a shared virtual world that holds more than 100 players at once, with real-time object handling and branching outcomes between runs.

The system ships as a turnkey kit in three configurations. The eight-player configuration needs roughly 400 square feet of clear floor, the eighteen-player configuration roughly 1,200 square feet, and the forty-player configuration roughly 3,800 square feet. Each kit contains enterprise Pico Neo 4 Ultra headsets, hot-swap batteries, charging equipment, rugged transport cases, the adventure software library and staff training. Chaos Inc states a setup time of about 30 minutes. Venues that already own headsets can license the software on its own.

Operators run sessions through AP Mission Control, a web console that rotates cohorts through the headsets and keeps the groups waiting their turn on related curriculum material. Sessions can be educator-led or run as open play, and groups advance together rather than individually.

The library is organised by curriculum subject. Step Into Webb covers space science and technology. Deep Sea Cleaning covers ecosystems. Solar System Soccer covers space science at planetary scale. Chaos Inc also builds commissioned adventures to a client brief.

As of August 2026, licensing was structured as a per-guest fee charged on top of the kit price, or as a software-only licence for operator-owned hardware. Adventure Portal was released in 2024 and had run a free-roam pilot at TELUS World of Science in Edmonton.
