Step Into Webb is a free-roam virtual reality experience built by Chaos Inc for the Adventure Portal platform. Groups follow the James Webb Space Telescope out to orbit and then walk through the telescope’s published images, rebuilt from NASA 3D data.
Visitors move physically through the environments rather than teleporting. Locations include the Pillars of Creation, Jupiter and its moons, and the telescope’s own missions, with science objectives set along the way. Chaos Inc describes the content as suited to grades 6 to 10, covering space science and technology.
A session runs 15 to 20 minutes in the headset. Around it, the platform supports an activity flow of about 60 minutes, so a class or tour group can be rotated through in cohorts while the remaining groups work on related material. The experience supports 1 to 36 participants.
The title runs on standalone headsets, on Pico hardware and on the HTC Focus 3 and Vision. It is available on Adventure Portal and is also distributed through SynthesisVR, where as of August 2026 it was licensed either on a per-player credit basis or metered per minute. Operators licensing it through SynthesisVR get access to a dedicated community area inside that platform.
