Description

Chernobyl is a VR escape room that puts visitors inside Pripyat on April 26, 1986 — the night the reactor exploded. The experience runs 60 minutes for groups of 1–6 players and asks a provocative question: if you could witness history, could you change it?

Visitors move through the abandoned town — desolate streets, crumbling apartment blocks, overgrown playgrounds frozen in time. The environment recreates Pripyat as it was left: quiet, eerie, and haunted by what happened. The setting is the story. Players solve puzzles that reveal the technical failures and human decisions that led to the disaster, and the heroic response that followed. Each solved puzzle moves the narrative forward and deepens understanding of what actually occurred.

This works for cultural venues, science centers, and immersive spaces looking for content that educates while it entertains. The experience is substantive — visitors leave with a real understanding of the disaster’s impact on people, politics, and the environment. It asks visitors to think about technological risk and ethical responsibility, which makes it fit programming that goes beyond entertainment.

The medium difficulty level accommodates ages 13 and up. The game loop balances problem-solving with historical storytelling — visitors aren’t just playing, they’re learning. The 60-minute format justifies the commitment to get off the couch and come to a venue. That duration also supports premium pricing and gives operators the time to deliver something visitors will talk about afterward.

Released in August 2020 for VRP 2.0 platforms, Chernobyl runs on PCVR and supports PICO 4, Quest, and VIVE Focus headsets in a 3×3-meter space with up to six concurrent users. The experience combines escape room mechanics with adventure gameplay and narrative content, making it a fit for venues that want content with cultural weight.
