Description

Lightning VR is a PCVR content platform from the Netherlands that delivers multiplayer free-roam shooter experiences to arcades and family entertainment centers. The company has operated its own VR arcade locations since 2017 and now licenses its catalog and platform to other operators.

The platform runs on PICO 4, Quest, and VIVE Focus headsets streaming PC-rendered visuals over Wi-Fi 6E. Arenas are configured for either 1,000 or 2,000 square feet (approximately 20×10 meters for the larger configuration). Lightning VR supports StrikerVR Mavrik Pro haptic gun controllers, which deliver recoil feedback during gameplay.

The current catalog includes four proprietary titles: two zombie shooters, one cartoon-style kids shooter, and one alien defense game. Sessions run 30 minutes. The platform supports 2 to 6 players per session in co-op PvE gameplay. Lightning VR has announced plans to distribute third-party content on the platform, though no specific titles or partners have been confirmed.

The platform is software-only. Operators provide their own hardware (headsets, haptic guns, Wi-Fi 6E infrastructure, and tracking). Lightning VR provides the game builds, server software, and updates. Technical support is included with the licensing agreement.

Lightning VR targets operators running shooter-focused VR arcades and family entertainment centers that already own PCVR-capable hardware and want access to a small catalog of action games with haptic gun support. The 30-minute session length and co-op format suit group bookings and party reservations. The platform is not ideal for operators seeking narrative-driven or non-combat content, as the current catalog is exclusively action and shooter gameplay.
