Three degree-of-freedom motion platform from Talon Simulations. Four actuators drive heave, pitch and roll across a 39 by 26 inch platform, on 1000 Hz telemetry.
The TX3 is a three degree-of-freedom motion platform from Talon Simulations, driving heave, pitch and roll for racing, flight and training applications. It is supplied for integration under an operator’s own seat, controls and VR system.
Four actuators sit in a corner configuration across a 39 by 26 inch platform, or 64 by 44 inches including controls. Each actuator travels 150 mm, reaching up to 800 mm per second with a sustained rate near 220 mm per second, and the rig carries about 360 kg. Bodies are billet-machined aluminium mono-block with solid steel pistons, driven by Teknic servo motors and a 32-bit ARM controller running in real time. Motion runs from 1000 Hz telemetry with end-to-end latency near 6 ms, and uses telemetry only rather than pre-set effects. The platform weighs 200 lbs, runs on 115V or 240V, and needs no lubrication. Talon warrants it for three years electrical and one year mechanical.
