Pathbender Media Holdings opened Portal TVCITY, a free-roam VR venue inside the Television City Studios lot in Los Angeles, on 6 November 2026. The first title is Horizon of Khufu, Excurio’s walk-through expedition inside the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Pathbender is a film and television production company based at Television City and Sunset Gower Studios. Its founding partners said the venue is the start of a partnership to bring Hollywood IP into Excurio’s format.

A VR venue on a working studio lot

Television City at 130 N. Fairfax Avenue still runs stages for live broadcast, film, television and streaming production. Portal TVCITY adds a visitor lounge and a media lounge for industry events and podcasts.

“We saw an opportunity to produce traditional media and showcase immersive experiences at TVC,” said Salvy Maleki, a founding partner of Pathbender Media Holdings, announcing the venue.

Horizon of Khufu runs about 45 minutes, for ages eight and up, with a session starting every 15 minutes. Fever sells adult tickets at $39, reduced tickets at $32 and group tickets at $35 a person for four or more, for dates through 28 February 2027.

LBXR Pulse, Excurio’s free-roam VR platform

The venue runs on LBXR Pulse, the platform Fast Company named a 2026 Next Big Things in Tech honoree. Excurio said LBXR Pulse holds more than 130 visitors at once and runs several productions in parallel in the same space. Excurio’s expeditions have drawn more than 5 million visitors across 40 venues in 17 countries, by the company’s count.

Hollywood IP for location-based VR

Pathbender said it plans to open more free-roam VR venues inside major film studios, internationally. Excurio opened LBXR Pulse to outside creators, studios and IP holders earlier in 2026.

“Together, we aim to bring iconic Hollywood IPs into the world of Immersive Expeditions,” said Fabien Barati, CEO and co-founder of Excurio.

What this means for operators and IP holders

For operators, Portal TVCITY sells a free-roam VR title inside a working studio lot at $39 for an adult, with a session every 15 minutes. For studios and IP holders, Excurio has opened LBXR Pulse to outside content, and Pathbender plans more free-roam VR venues inside major film studios.
