Hololabs is a Victoria, BC development studio that builds custom AR, VR, and mixed reality experiences for location-based entertainment operators. The team works as a contracted developer rather than a packaged-product vendor, partnering with theme parks, attractions, museums, and brands to design and engineer bespoke immersive content.
The studio’s LBE credentials sit at the top of the industry. Hololabs developed gameplay and interactive media for Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge at Universal Studios Japan, including AR visor content, ride-system integration, distributed rendering, and the operations software used to deploy and monitor the game across hundreds of ride computers. The team also built the AR mobile app and on-model content for Universal’s Epic Universe Preview Center, with tracked AR overlays bringing the five lands of the park to life on a physical scale model.
Beyond theme park work, the catalogue spans VR titles, AR location-based games (Survive Vancouver, Brain Rot Revolution), immersive art installations, and original IP. Hololabs has been working in emerging media for over a decade, with experience across Unity, Unreal, custom AR tracking, mobile AR, headset VR, and large-scale ride and show integration.
For operators, Hololabs is a fit when the project is custom: a venue-specific attraction, a branded AR layer over a physical environment, an installation tied to a property or IP, or technical R&D where off-the-shelf content does not exist. Engagements run from concept and prototyping through production, integration, and post-launch operations support.
