Immotion builds seated, motion-based virtual reality attractions that pair stereoscopic 360-degree films with motion seats synchronized to the camera. The business began in Manchester, England, where Immotion Group plc was founded by Martin Higginson and David Marks and listed on London’s AIM market in 2018, and it is now headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Rod Findley is President and Chief Executive Officer. Immotion produces its own films and supplies them with the seats and headsets as a single turnkey system, installed under a revenue-share model with no upfront cost to the venue. Films are developed with paleontologists, marine biologists, scientists and conservation experts, and the company funds pangolin conservation work by the Zoological Society of London.
The company sells two attraction packages. Immotion Edutainment is built for zoos and aquariums and is also installed in museums and science centers, with a library of twelve films including Polar Odyssey, Dinosaur Evolution, Gorilla Trek, Dolphins of the Reef and The Great Migration; a standard theater holds twelve cinema motion seats on a motion platform, enclosures are offered from six to twelve seats, and larger builds have reached forty seats. Immotion Entertainment is built for retail shopping centers, tourist destinations and city landmarks, and is led by Thrill Coaster, a virtual reality roller coaster filmed by drone above eleven cities. As of August 2026 Immotion reported more than 150 installations across 22 countries, 3.5 million annual users and films in 18 languages, at venues including Chester Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Sea Life London Aquarium, Oceanografic Valencia, Westfield London, the Trafford Centre and the Sydney Tower Eye. Dolphins of the Reef won the 2026 Lumiere Award for Best Use of Virtual Reality from the Advanced Imaging Society, The Great Migration won Best of Show in the Experimental category at the Nature Without Borders International Film Festival, and Fast Company named Immotion to its 2026 Most Innovative Companies list.
