Description

Arcade Arena is a headset-free multiplayer gaming system that combines projection mapping, motion tracking, and traditional arcade controls in a 14.5′ × 16.5′ space. Built by an operator in Minnesota, it accommodates up to 10 players at once across 7 different social games.

The system uses three projector screens with LIDAR sensors for touch tracking, machine vision for body tracking, and arcade-style controllers with monitors. Some players work in the projection-mapped arena while others operate from external control stations. Average game length is 10 minutes. Sessions can run from 2 minutes (single-game quick play) up to 90 minutes (full session), depending on the operator’s chosen model.

Arcade Arena targets multi-generational groups — ages 8 and up — with gameplay modes that include co-op, PvP, and team-versus-team formats. Games cover themes like museum heists, lava escape, and ghost hunting. No attendant is required for operation.

The system supports two pricing models: high-throughput (69 players per hour at $9 per play) or unlimited private rental ($210 per hour for 60-minute sessions). Spectators can watch via overhead monitors. Introduced in 2022. US support provided by BARNCO Entertainment LLC.

Review from Bob Cooney's 2022/2023 VR Arcade Game Buyer's Guide:

Arcade Arena

Arcade Arena is a new entrant into the social multiplayer gaming in a box category I called Mixed Reality Arenas (for lack of a better name.) It was built by an operator in Minnesota and will make their industry debut at IAAPA Orlando. It combines three projector screens with LIDAR sensors for touch tracking, machine vision for body tracking, and old school game controllers with monitors to added gameplay flexibility.

The arcade controllers means some people play in the arena and some play on the outside, increasing capacity to 10-players at a time. It’s advertised as unattended, but that can mean different things to someone new to the industry. They recommend 90-minute sessions, which means this is an attraction that would require advanced booking. They currently have 7 games with more on the way.
